Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer

Derek Masseth serves as deputy chief information officer and chief technology officer. Masseth leads the development of the Office of the CIO's overall technology strategy and oversees day to day operations for infrastructure, enterprise applications and research computing teams. Additionally, Masseth is serving as interim chief information security officer during the search to fill the CISO position. 
Most recently, Masseth served as senior director of cloud services where he led the development of the organization's cloud strategy and leveraged cloud-based service offerings to achieve greater organizational efficiencies.He provided oversight over understanding and analyzing cloud-based options for the university as well as discussions and strategic engagements with cloud service providers.Prior to this, he was senior director for infrastructure and client services where he was responsible for managing a wide array of IT functional areas, including the University's primary data centers, voice and data networks, computing labs, desktop support, help desk environments, and high performance and high throughput computing.
Masseth has over 20 years of experience building, maintaining, and growing production IT environments.
