Grouper: What is it, and how is it used at UA?

2:00pm to 2:50pm
Santa Rita Room

Consider these questions:

  • Does your department have services that require user group management?
  • Can these services use memberships from Active Directory, REST or LDAP
  • Do all your members have a UA NetID?
  • Do you think there should be a better, faster way to manage group membership?

If you answered yes to all, then you could be using grouper.

  • Do you have projects that require the same members to have access to resources across multiple services, such as BOX, SYMPA and Confluence?
  • Do you want to isolate your department user memberships by classification, class enrollment, or other special LDAP identifier?
  • Do you need to provision building/room access based on the employees and students for your department or course?

If you answered yes to any, then you could be using grouper.
